The doctoral dissertation is a requirement of the Ph.D. program. As such, it is instrumental to be well-versed in how to write a dissertation introduction. Provide a good conclusion to the introduction, the conclusion to the introduction must be as strong and effective as the first sentence. An effective approach is to state your dissertations objectives towards the end. Remember that the purpose of the introduction is to do exactly that, introduce the issue and context, while the history and background will follow in later sections.

Next remember that your plan will have to change as you start working on your dissertation. So keep flexibility in mind at all times. Now come up with a list of all of the tasks you need to complete to ensure that your dissertation is finalised. This could include for example, carry out internet search, produce list of research questions, consult text books on research methodologies, draw up questionnaire, etc.
